The NEA President’s Award was established to provide a special platform for the NEA President to honor an individual or organization that has advanced human and civil rights. Honorees are those that the NEA President recognizes especially for their work to advance human and civil rights; and often times the award is given to those who seek to break intrinsic structural and systemic injustice.

Nominations are not accepted for the NEA President’s Award as it is not an award bestowed annually under the common award categories.

Awarded at the discretion of the president.
